This page is to record any collected through our volunteers or contributors and their local areas.

Get involved -‘My Species’
Have you got diatoms in your local area? Where do you find diatoms? How do you collect a diatom sample?

If you are confirmed for a place at the workshop on 18 March you are also invited to find and create your own diatom sample. Some basic instructions on how to collect a diatom sample can be found here under ‘Information sheets’. These instructions will also be sent out to you by email when you place is confirmed.

When you have collected your sample please complete the first stage of the table below and email it to vfactor@nhm.ac.uk with My species in the subject line.
You will then be invited in to the Museum to create your own slide and establish what species of diatom you have collected in your sample.

Your findings will be displayed on 'Diatoms Online' under 'V Factor 2013-2014' then 'My Species'.
